1. Earth is 4500 million years old (4.5 billion years)
2. Life started 3500 million years ago on earth
3. Animals came into existence around 600 million years ago
4. Mammals came into existence 160 million years ago
5. Great apes (chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans) came into existence 20 million years ago
6. Early humans came into existence 2.5 million years ago
7. Anatomically modern humans, Homo sapiens came into existence 1 million years ago.
If you think the age of earth as 24 Hours, then 'anatomically modern humans' or Homo sapiens or we humans are here on earth just for last 20 seconds!
How come some one who is so new and so recent is impacting (in last 20 seconds) what has been created in 24 hours...We keep doing many things that impact earth, environment and animals (our co-travelers on this earth)!
One small #2019nCoV is able to bring down the supply chain, economy and GDP of humans in just few weeks (Time to recognize GDP contribution by plants and animals?). Climate change on the other side is impacting millions of people and animals.
As humans, we need to know our place (and how recent we are to this place) and stay humble. We need to take care of earth. Things we can do right away:
(1) Reduce consumption in general
(2) Reduce plastics (polythene bags and single use plastics)
(3) Go for cotton fabrics (read or google about microfibers causing a chaos in the oceans) ; reduce number of cloths we have or buy
(4) Try vegan, reduce large scale / industrial animal farming (watch documentary Cowspiracy and Game Changers)
(5) Try organic or locally produced goods
We have been here for last 20 seconds and we should last for at least few minutes.
Thoughts, ideas and feedback welcome!
